1980 Mercedes Benz 300TD Wagon
49,500 Miles
Light Ivory Exterior (Original Paint)
Palomino Interior (All Original)
The interest in this wagon to me was obviously the low original miles, which you almost NEVER see, insofar as these wagons are indestructible and are ALL well beat up today. Secondly, the overall condition and the continued maintenance throughout the years were exceptional...and the wagon is whole heartedly rust free.
The engine still has the original paint on the block, and always fires right up, and for a naturally aspirated OM617, gets up and goes just fine...unlike some that are mistimed and can't get out of their own way.
The interior is all original and in excellent shape, with nice carpets, excellent wood veneers, and everything seems to work great. The HVAC system recently had extensive work to bring it up to par.
The exterior is all original paint, is marvelous. I honestly can't rate the paint, but for 40 years old its some of the nicest I've seen.
The rear suspension was also recently completely overhauled, and pretty much every gasket in the darn wagon has been replaced, the service records read more of a Boeing 747 rather than a Mercedes wagon.
I had the tires replaced, and have enjoyed the trouble free simplicity of the wagon, and it always gets thumbs ups at gas stations, the gold course, and the local Starbucks. The condition of this wagon seems to bring back memories of when we were younger, and this wagon has stood the passage of time.
This is not a "fixer upper", this is a wagon you can hop in and drive anywhere, its like a new wagon...quite impressive.
